CODEPINK is co-organizing the People's Filibuster with Shut Down DC starting this Sunday, November 14th!
This coalition is tired of Republicans filibustering the progressive agenda (and people like Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema letting them). So after a lot of brainstorming and talking to partners, we decided to hold our own filibuster FOR our agenda:
- Where: Stanton Park - right down the block from Mitch McConnell's place (with plenty of visits to his house)
- When: For 25 hours from Nov. 14-15 - beating Senator Strom Thurmond's record from when he filibustered the Civil Rights Act in 1957.
- And featuring all our friends and their priorities!

We’re going to be talking about everything from climate to voting rights to paid family leave to statehood for DC - whatever speaks to you. And we're going to pepper in rallies, trainings, and a big organizing meeting to decide what to do next! Here’s our tentative schedule:
Sunday 11/14
- 4PM - 5PM - Opening Rally
- 5PM - 7PM - Filibuster speaking slots
- 7PM - 9PM - Defending Democracy - Open meeting to plan escalated actions over the next several weeks
- 9PM - 8AM - Filibuster speaking slots
Monday 11/15
- 8AM - 9am - Wake Up to Democracy Rally!
- 9AM - 12PM - Filibuster speaking slots
- 12PM - 1PM - Mid-day rally
- 1PM - 5PM - Filibuster speaking slots
- 2PM-4PM CODEPINK Speakers
- 5PM - 6:30PM - Closing Rally
