Pass the Philippine Human Rights Act Now!

Communications Workers of America (CWA), International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines (ICHRP), Malaya Movement USA and Kabataan Alliance advocating for human rights in the Philippines will unveil over 3,000 pairs of “tsinelas,” Filipino for flip flops, displayed across Capitol Hill. Each pair will represent 10 killings in the Philippines, representative of 30,000 killings and counting under the Duterte regime.

Ahead of the Summit for Democracy beginning next week, activists are calling for Congressional support of the Philippines Human Rights Act, introduced by Rep. Susan Wild (D-PA) and cosponsored by 24 other representatives in response to the increasingly dangerous actions of the Duterte regime to punish and execute trade unionists, human rights activists and members of the media.
