How the War Budget Links to Mass Deportations

BbbandCTP.png

The only beneficiary of Trump's new budget appears to be the military-industrial complex. The military budget is already nearing $1 trillion, and Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill adds $150 billion more.

The additional $150 billion will fund immigration enforcement, hiring over 8,000 new ICE officers, building new detention centers to hold over 100,000 people daily, and tightening border security. This influx of cash will make ICE the largest law enforcement agency in the country, with a budget larger than the military budgets of all but fifteen countries! These budget increases are clear declarations that a war on people, in the U.S. and abroad, is Trump’s top priority.

The U.S. military, like Trump's budget, is portrayed as a great benefit to the people, but that could not be further from the truth. The violent mass deportation raids have terrorized communities as they rip people away from their families and place them in concentration-like detention centers, disappearing thousands of people, with some losing their lives. Communities are stepping up to confront these raids; Trump's response has been to deploy the National Guard and the Marines on the very people they are supposed to protect. These actions make it very clear that there is no separation between the U.S. military and ICE, and that their objective is not to protect people.

We need to put an end to the militarized violence against our communities by demanding that the government cut the Pentagon budget!

Here is where you can start:

Save and share our ICE has no place in our neighborhood toolkit

Sign and share our Cut the Pentagon petition with five of your friends, neighbors, or family members. Receiving a personal invitation to sign a petition is significantly more effective than sharing it online. If everyone who has already signed the petition gets even one person to sign it, we will reach our goal of 10,000 signatures by September.

Read and share CODEPINK’s Statement:

The Big Beautiful Bill is a Big Ugly Disaster for the People and the Planet
